I believe that we're collectively working on an Internet Operating System, and that it will ultimately look more like Unix than it looks like Windows. That is, it will be an aggregate of best of breed tools produced by an army of independent actors, all playing by the same rules so that those tools work together to produce a whole greater than the sum of the parts. To make sure that we working towards the same goal foundations (like OpenID) and specs (like OAuth) are created. Each time some of the same mistakes are made. The Open Web Foundation's goal it to provide a home for community created specs. with mentorship, resources and infrastructure. Hopefully this will help teams spend time on making the spec. The Open Web Foundation is being announced today, but we don't have all the answers. Join the conversation via the mailing list, our Q&A, or tonight's OSCON BOF and help us figure them out. Here are the slides from David Recordon's announcement this morning. Supporting The Open Web - OSCON 2008
